Over the last decade, Webrepublic has grown from an ambitious startup into Switzerland’s leading digital marketing agency. Its sports and entertainment spin-off was relaunched as PACE in early 2025, and works with some of the world’s most prominent sports and entertainment organisations.
For that business, we are looking for a full-time, multi-faceted Design Lead. With key clients such as FIFA and UEFA, among others, we are looking for a creative all-rounder who is well-versed in various design disciplines across B2B and B2C mediums and wants to combine that with a deep passion for sports, particularly soccer.
The role is suited to an Design Lead who enjoys getting their hands dirty on projects, but also has the vision to guide the PACE brand and its positioning and lead a small but talented team of designers and motion designers.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, your duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- lead the Creative Team in Cape Town, aligning with the leadership team in Europe to understand the business strategy and guide the department accordingly,
- manage and collaborate closely with colleagues across art, copy, consulting, strategy, and editorial,
- oversee PACE’s project funnel, working with the Creative Team’s Production Manager to ensure all internal and external projects are delivered from brief to completion,
- set the standard for PACE’s quality control approach across all projects,
- contribute to the hands-on production of creative assets as part of a small, highly capable creative team,
- serve as guardian of the PACE brand, its core design principles and qualities, and take responsibility for its development as the agency evolves,
- manage PACE’s internal creative requirements, from new business or client presentations to brand assets,
- take responsibility for out-of-scope creative campaigns, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to move projects from brief status to delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
As an ideal candidate, you must have the following:
- Experience:
- 6-7 years of relevant work experience in brand design and storytelling,
- proven track record in B2B, new business, and/or commercial brand design, with the ability to execute at a premium level,
- experience leading creative production teams through official reporting lines,
- deep understanding of the sports industry, gained through professional experience and personal interest (ideally with a focus on football/soccer),
- strong understanding of successful social media content, particularly within the sports domain;
- Technical Proficiency:
- expert proficiency in various design-relevant tools within the Adobe Creative Suite;
- Portfolio:
- an eye-catching brand design portfolio that showcases a diverse range of skills and experience;
- Communication:
- fluent English speaker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
